Numbers 19:1-22:1

Judges 11:1-33

Chukat WT

This Parashah covers the Red Heifer ceremony for cleansing a person contaminated with corpse impurity, the death of Miriam, the waters of Meribah with Mosheh striking the rock against God's command, Edom's refusal of passage, Aharon's death, the incident with the bronze serpent, the journey to Moab, and the defeat of king Sihon and Og.

Have you ever wondered the following...

  • Why Moshe and Aaron had to die outside the Land of Israel?
  • What sin did they commit that YHWH said that they would not enter the Land?
  • Why are the deaths of Miriam, Moshe and Aaron are all mentioned within the text of Chapter 20?

This page includes Torah Portions from multiple years covered by Wisdom in Torah. Each year we covered the Torah from a different perspective so you can explore each Parashah from a different perspective and focus.

  • 2010 Portions: Focus on Messianic connections in the Parashah
  • ANET Portions: Focus on the ancient Near Eastern cultural context of the Parashah
  • Mitzvot Portions: Focus on explaining and exploring the commandments found in the Parashah (in progress)
  • 2015 Portions: Revisiting the Parashah looking at the ancient cultural context more in depth with additional areas that have been researched
  • Brit Portions: Focus on connecting the Brit Hadashah (New Testament) to the Parashah

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

  1. Thank you for that word in the Brit portion. So true! Just as Moshe’s name means “to draw out”, so we are “drawn out” of the chaos to follow the Torah. Drawn Out ones should not be striking our Messiah, but we are to confess Him to receive the living water. Thank you brother!

    1. Correct Teresa we are not to also strike Messiah but receive His living waters just like the water that emanated from His side, the waters of purification.

  2. As I listened to this message, I pondered if each individual hair on the Red Heifer is representative of each one who is in Covenant with YHVH. There are so many Verses in The Word that mentions hair. 🙂
    Thank you Brother Rico

  3. Avinu Shalom Alecheim!
What an eye opener Rico! Thank you for this teaching. It seems as I continue, each and every day there are new things that pop out for me! I am fairly new, at almost two years, but I have never been so engrossed in anything like this in my life! I understand now the phrase, an all consuming fire! I have come to LOVE the Torah and all of His Commandments. Thank you for your dedication!

  4. Considering the extreme level of pain experienced by the body during crucifixion, with every nerve, muscle, and bone seemingly ‘on fire and burning’, also the body’s temp. can elevate with trauma and dehydration, especially when experienced over a prolonged period of time. It is not hard to see how Yahushua was burned outside the camp as the red heifer was.

Blessings on you and your family Rico.
    Shalom Aleichem, Joan

  5. I am blessed by this teaching beyond mere words. I heard you say that you take a tour to Siloam in the Southern part of the City of David? I must go. I am intrigued that YHWH has me preparing to record a CD entitled “Pool of Siloam” at this appointed time! I will find prophetic meanings in experiencing your teachings on Siloam in relation to the red heifer!
