Genesis 23:1 - 25:18

1 Kings 1:1-31

chayei Sarah wt

This Torah portion is one of the most revealing stories about the Messiah in the Torah. This Parashah tells us about the prophetic of types and shadows in Scriptures in regards to the regathering of the children of Israel. The story about how Abraham send his most trusted servant to seek a Bride for Isaac, Abraham represents the Father in this story, Eliezer - the Holy Spirit, Rebecca is a type of the Virgin condition of Israel in the Dispersion and lastly the house of Laban is about the future location where the children of Israel would be disperse because of their Idolatry. I pray that this Portion of Scriptures will help you understand the deeper dimension of the study of the Torah.

Also, this portion is one of the most revealing in my years following and teaching Torah. It proves my point of the importance of understanding context, customs, culture, international laws of the time that our fathers lived. Have you ever wonder why? Abraham only wanted to buy the cave and not the whole pieces of land? What connection does the price for the land has to do with Hittite law of the times of Abraham? What importance does the trees in this story has to do with the final sale of the field? And Finally why is Abraham so driven to find a bride for Isaac our of the house of his fathers? I am so humbled that YAH has giving me an opportunity to get an understanding of this important context.

Lastly, In Chayei Sarah we will discuss the importance of understanding the link between narrative and law. It is only through the study of both that we can determine which laws in Torah are designed to restore us to the perfect image of God and those which were given to limit how far we could stray from the image of God because of the hardness of our hearts (Matthew 19:8). We will also look at the importance of the term "God of Heaven" and the connection between the 10 camels and the 10 virgins in Matthew 25

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

  1. Daniel,
    Nugget/Trees:
You make mention that trees served as boundary markers. No trees around Temple. Does this, could this mean that there are no boundaries to Yah’s domain/Kingdom? My understanding in the past was there was to be nothing of death near His Temple thus trees have leaves that die therefore no trees. Both with Hebrew open block thinking?

  2. Great study of the Torah portion and how the Apostolic writing’s bring out the word and how we should follow it. I feel that you did a great job this week. Keep up the great work my brother, Shalom

  3. Great teaching Ryan! It was definitely a breath of fresh air in this movement. You’ve grown a lot and the body is better for it. You seem more jovial! Lol. Keep up the good work brotha! Shalom!

    1. Thank you Linda!

Yes, that was something I recently came across that I had not noticed that Eve changes the name of God when she repeats back the command. There were actually 4 changes between Gen 2:16-17 and Gen 3:2-3,
Name of God changed to a less intimate and less covenant one (God vs. YHWH God)
God’s permission is minimized to only the fruit of the trees (rather than all the trees)
God’s prohibition is maximized (you shall not touch…)
Consequences of sin are minimized (you shall die vs. you shall surely die)

These subtle changes betray Eve’s true feelings about God’s commands and set a precedence for the rest of Scripture on how mankind improperly views God’s commands

  4. Thank you very much for going an extra half hour to teach since that portion had so many gems! The mandate which few emphasize as client “obligation” was clearly explained by you. It both elevated and granted humility once I understood the great significance you highlighted. I’m so grateful for this because it helps me walk a straighter path and not to be distracted by the clanging cymbal noises!!

  5. SHALOM ON YOUR HOME BROTHER. YAH IS SO AWESOME. Time to run to The Truth and cut off The World. Keep teaching Brother we pray you can come to Chico and teach soon.

  6. Shalom
I pray the learning center will someday take place but the moment we will need the Father to provide so we can build it. In the meantime I am looking to set up another house that may be bigger to have room for a bigger office.

  7. Well, you have no idea how often I have said to myself, “Oh darn, I have to listen to Rico for another 30 minutes.” You have my permission to “go long” as often as you want 😀

    1. Oh my goodness, what you are saying about confessing Yeshua being an oath — makes Heb 10:29 make so much more sense now

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Not only do these ex-Messianic Yeshua deniers break their oath to YHVH, but they dishonor the blood of the covenant. Wow.

I also see the dangers of those who slander Paul, not only do they dishonor him as the representative of our King, but they also dishonor Peter, James and Luke who all witnessed about him.

In addition — you spoke about “if my god can do it, so can I.” I have personally seen this, when I live in a Mormon community in southern Idaho (77% Mormon). They had a terrible problem with father-daughter incest because one of their doctrines states that YHVH had physical sex with Mary.

      1. The 2020 teaching regarding headcoverings is the first one I’ve ever heard that makes sense to me, tx Rico. How grateful I am to your common sense approach to the Scriptures. Thank you so much for clarifying and teaching me.
